1. Special Properties
The driver system features six outputs with high isolation voltages, allowing operation of power semiconductors at up to 500 V RMS. It is built on a PCB with appropriately large clearance and creepage distances.
The system can be used to trigger three-phase thyristor bridges in rectifier or inverter configurations, as well as three-phase thyristor star circuits for resistive loads.
Triggering is performed via fast-rising pulses with durations up to 1 ms, effectively avoiding the disadvantages of pulse trains. Conventional magnetic pulse transformers are bulky and offer only limited slew rates.
The PCB integrates six ZB1-500 gate driver circuits. Due to the low coupling capacitance—both between outputs and between inputs and outputs—no shielding windings are required.
